A grade 10 learner from Cordon National High School has bagged the first-ever gold for Isabela after lodging a commanding lead over rivals in long jump men’s category, Day 1 of the DepED Dos RISE, April 25.

Julius U. Cadiz, 16, whose last appearance in the Valley’s biggest sports convergence was in 2018, recorded a career-high 6.39 meters, 20 centimeters ahead of the second placer from Cagayan who registered 6.19 meters.

According to Cadiz, the victory was a product of his strong desire to bring pride to his province, citing his willingness to give it his all during the 25-day intensive training just to provide the Emerald delegation the honor it deserves.

“𝘚𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘰 𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘢 𝘵𝘺𝘢𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦,” he said.

Meanwhile, John John Petines and Darwin Tagaroma, Cadiz’s coaches, said that they already expected the grade 10 jumper to rake gold in long jump as his records during the training were consistently high. “𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘱𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘪𝘺𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢,” they said.(Jose Rafael P.
