SANTIAGO CITY––A man died, and three others were injured when a fuel tanker exploded Sunday evening after falling off a bridge in Bagabag town, Nueva Vizcaya, police said.

Maj. Romeo Barnachea, Bagabag police chief, said the fuel tanker was loaded with 40,000 liters of diesel and gasoline and was on its way to Isabela province when it hit the railing of Baretbet Bridge before plunging off the bridge around 11:30 p.m.

The charred body of a still unidentified man was retrieved from the site, while three others were rescued and taken to a hospital in Solano town.

Investigators said the fire, which quickly spread to nearby areas, also hit a bunkhouse of construction workers. (By Villamor C. Visaya Jr., Philippine Daily Inquirer News Correspondent)
