Camp Marcelo Adduru, Tuguegarao City – In the intensified implementation of COMELEC Gun Ban, a farmer was nabbed for possession of unlicensed firearm and dangerous drugs in Villa Cielo, Buguey Cagayan, March 6, 2022.

The arrest of Nestor Magayano Sr., 50 years old and a resident of said municipality rooted from a report about an alleged maltreatment committed by the same against his wife and daughter. It was further reported that Magayano was armed with an unidentified firearm which prompted the personnel of Buguey Police Station to respond immediately.

According to the investigator, when the suspect noticed the approaching PNP authorities, he tried to evade arrest which led to a hot pursuit operation. Thereafter, a warrantless body search yielded to the confiscation of one piece heat sealed plastic sachet containing dried leaves suspected to be “Marijuana” which is more or less 6.6 grams with a standard drug price value of Eight Hundred Pesos (Php800.00) and one piece improvised shotgun.

The suspect and confiscated contrabands were brought immediately to Buguey Police Station while the dangerous drugs were forwarded to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Tuguegarao City for laboratory examinations.

Magayano is facing multi-criminal charges to include violations of Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, Batas Pambansa Bilang 881 of Omnibus Election Code and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or Possession of Dangerous Drugs. (PNP PRO2 PR)
