TUGUEGARAO CITY — The body of a 9-year-old girl was recovered two days after she drowned while swimming at sea in Gonzaga town, Cagayan province, police said Thursday, Feb. 10.

Investigators identified the girl as Gillian Antonio of Lal-lo town, also in Cagayan.

Antonio’s body was found floating in the sea by a team of rescuers from the local government and Coast Guard-Northeastern Luzon.

The girl went swimming with her relatives on Tuesday but she was swept away by the strong current, police said.#
