CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela-Professional boxer Wesley Caga outboxed Louie Jay Albino in an eight-round professional boxing fight to win the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) during the “Bakbakan sa Ilagan” match held at the Capital Arena on February 8 here.
The 24-year-old Caga raised his record to six wins and two losses aside from bagging the WBF bantam belt.
Both showing eagerness to win and aggressiveness, both fighters connected with hooks, jabs and uppercut against each other, but no one was knocked out.
The boxing event also showed the Philippine Boxing Federation championship fight against Claudevan Sese, who won in a referee-stopped contest via technical knockout, over Alvin Medura in the fourth round.
Mayor Josemarie Diaz, who co-sponsored the fight, said the world match would further develop sports and tourism in the city.
“This is a momentous event for the City of Ilagan. We hope to have more boxing fights and other sports events in the future,” he said.#
