In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) launched a series of meaningful and empowerment-driven activities throughout March. Embracing the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas,” the celebration honored the strength, resilience, and vital contributions of women within the organization and its partner communities.
The month-long celebration began with a message of hope and determination |by a strong and inspiring woman, Sec. Katrina Ponce Enrile, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of CEZA.
“Bilang unang babaeng Administrator at CEO ng CEZA, ako mismo ay patunay na walang limitasyon ang kaya nating abutin. Sama-sama nating itaguyod ang pantay na oportunidad at ipaglaban ang isang mas makabuluhan at makatarungang kinabukasan para sa lahat,” Sec. Enrile shared.
To spark inspiration, CEZA organized a film viewing of a movie entitled, Hidden Figures, which was shown across all its offices. The movie highlighted the story of three African-American race and gender barriers, which deeply resonated with employees and underscored the importance of women’s contributions in historically male-dominated spaces.
CEZA also took steps to support women’s health and well-being by distributing hygiene kits to all its female employees.
On March 05, 2025, it also joined the national observance of Women’s Month through its participation in the Kick-Off Celebration at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. In this activity, participants from CEZA stood alongside fellow advocates in reaffirming their support for women’s rights and equality.
The most impactful initiative came through “Serbisyo for Juana,” a full-day health and wellness event held on March 17 at the CEZA Makati Office. Female employees received essential medical services including breast examinations, cervical cancer screenings, and OB-Gyne consultations. A total of 35 women underwent breast exams, 21 availed of cervical screenings, and many participated in one-on-one consultations. Additionally, 36 women and 26 men availed of basic health assessments, such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, cholesterol screening, and height and weight measurements. CEZA plans to bring this initiative to its Cagayan offices in May, ensuring that women employees in all locations benefit from the same care.
In addition, CEZA organized a two-day Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) and Leadership Training on March 26–27, 2025. The sessions brought together members of CEZA-assisted community organizations and employees of registered enterprises, fostering inclusive leadership and encouraging greater awareness of gender dynamics in the workplace and society.#
