In an effort to implement environmental programs more resilient and adaptive to climate change, Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Cagayan Valley sets priority programs for this year’s implementation during the recent New Year’s Call held in Tuguegarao City.
Director Bambalan underscored the enhanced implementation of natural resources management agreement and permit issuance, operations against illegal ENR activities, protected area management, caves and wetlands development, and protection and conservation of wildlife.
She also directed to escalate management of coastal and marine resources, land survey disposition and records management, forest development rehabilitation and maintenance and protection, soil conservation and watershed management, including river basin management and development, and mining and environmental management.
In her message, Director Bambalan said 2024 provided invaluable lessons and experiences that strengthened the Department’s resilience and adaptation in addressing environmental concerns with greater agility and effectiveness. “It was indeed a challenging 2024. However, through our collective efforts, unwavering resolve, and the invaluable support of our stakeholders, we have successfully implemented various programs and initiatives,” she expressed.
As part of the Department’s reward and recognition program, Director Bambalan conferred awards during the event to some offices, officials and personnel.
The best offices for the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) category were CENRO Cabagan, 1st; CENRO Palanan, 2nd; and PENR Sub-Office Roxas, 3rd. For the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) category, awardees were PENRO Nueva Vizcaya, 1st; PENRO Cagayan, 2nd; and PENRO Isabela, 3rd.
The Finance Division got 1st place, followed by the Legal Division for the Regional Office category.
Personnel from the regional office and field offices were also recognized for their achievements in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
The regional environment chief urged the employees for their cooperation and support to attain another year-round target activities.
“While we have achieved significant milestones in 2024, much work remains to be done. However, I am confident that with the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit that we have consistently demonstrated, we can overcome any challenge that may lie ahead,” she concluded as she congratulated all officials and employees who exhibited excellent performance.#
