Denver Nuggets nearly blew a seven-point edge, barely two minutes in the fourth quarter but were able to hold off the fighting Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Monday night (Tuesday morning in Manila) for a 94-89 victory for its first-ever title.
Hobbled by poor shooting, Nuggets regrouped in the fourth period with Nikola Jokic, who finished the night with 28 points on 12-for-16 shooting and 16 rebounds, leading the fray.
Heat nearly stole the fifth game but Adebayo and Butler misfired in the dying minutes.
Jokic was named Finals MVP.
