Filipina tennis star Alex Eala had absorbed a double whammy on Thursday, losing her second-round singles in three sets and second-round doubles in Wimbledon Juniors.

Although seeded second, Eala started hot by winning the first set but failed to sustain her match against Spain’s Ane Mintegi Del Olmo, 6-3, 4-6, 5-7.

Eala’s loss has brought her still in an elusive search for her first Singles Grand Slam.

In the girls’ doubles, third-seeded Eala and Indonesian partner Priska Nugroho failed to sustain their game, losing to American Ashlyn Krueger and Swiss Chelsea Fontenel in a nip-and-tuck match, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.

Eala and Nugroho last won the Australian Girls’ Doubles in 2020.#
