Showing grit as she continues her giant-killer ways, Filipina tennis ace Alexandra Eala scored another upset by defeating World No. 2 Polish Iga Swiatek with a 6-2 7-5 upset to reach the semifinals of the Miami Open at Hard Rock Stadium.

The 19-year-old wildcard player shrugged off the superstar status of Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion who once had a practice game with her in 2021.

“I don’t know what to say, I mean, complete just disbelief right now and I am on cloud nine,”Eala, the first woman from the Philippines to reach the last eight of a WTA 1000 tournament, said in an on-court interview by a Miami reporter shortly after her victory.

Swiatek was listless in the game, hitting 19 unforced errors that doomed her.

In the second set, the Filipina tennister managed to overturn a 4-2 deficit and then held her nerve while Swiatek tried to serve out the set at 5-4 before ultimately closing it out with her eighth break of the match.#
