TUGUEGARAO CITY––A 73-year-old trader and his 69-year-old wife were shot dead Thursday by two motorcycle-riding gunmen at Barangay Maura in Aparri town, Cagayan province, police said.

Samuel Soliven and his wife Teresita of Maura village in Aparri were on board an improvised tricycle on their way home when assailants attacked them around 8 p.m.

Investigators said the couple suffered bullet wounds on their heads.

A hot pursuit operation was underway to capture the armed men while investigators were trying to determine the motive behind the attack.#
