TUGUEGARAO CITY – Fire gutted a grocery store and left some P3 million worth of damage in Baggao town, Cagayan province on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Fire Officer 3 Joey Jose, chief investigator of Baggao fire station, said they were looking into an electrical short circuit as the possible cause of the fire in Barangay Remus.

The blaze began at 12: 45 a.m. and put out about 3 a.m., Jose said.

Also damaged in the fire were the building that housed the store and equipment.

Investigators said the store owner and his two sons, who were sleeping beside the grocery store when the fire broke out, were safe.#
