Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has resigned from Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) as a member, also leaving her chairperson post.
In a statement, Duterte did not give a reason for bolting the party which she used as a springboard when she ran and won for vice president.
Citing cryptic words like that she “cannot be poisoned by political toxicity” or “undermined by the political power play,” Duterte expressed gratefulness to the party which gave her the push for victory.
“I am grateful to all the party members for the support that also once demonstrated that unity is possible to advance our shared dreams for our fellow Filipinos and our beloved country,” she said.#
