The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 awarded P8,985,250 worth of livelihood check to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (BFAR-R02) for the 295 fishermen and farmers that has been affected by series of typhoons last October and November 2024 in Batanes.
The goal of this livelihood support is to provide local farmers and fishermen with the resources, training, and tools they need to increase their output and revenue. Fish processing plants, tilapia aquaculture, fishing equipment, and motorized boats are all covered by the project.
Through a memorandum of agreement, the two organizations partnered last year to support the initiative: “Sustaining Batanes Through Fisheries and Livelihood Program: Capture, Aquaculture, and Post-harvest”.#
