As a result of PRO-CAR’s continuous anti-illegal drug operations, a total of Php17,248.00 were seized, and a drug personality was arrested in the separate operations conducted in Abra and Benguet on August 19, 2024.
In Abra, a 27-year-old male listed as a Street Level Individual was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted in Zone 5, Bangued, after he sold one sachet of suspected shabu weighing approximately 0.54 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php3,672.00 to an operative who acted as a poseur buyer.
In the course of the arrest, another two sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 0.82 grams with an SDP of Php5,576.00 were confiscated from the suspect.
The arrest was made possible through the concerted efforts of the operatives of Bangued Municipal Police Station (MPS), Manabo MPS, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Abra PPO, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), and PDEA-CAR.
The suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bangued MPS for documentation and proper disposition, while charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspect.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, a marijuana seedbed with an estimated land area of 2 square meters planted with more or less 200 pieces of marijuana seedlings having a total SDP of Php8,000.00 was discovered during the marijuana eradication operation conducted by the joint operatives of Kibungan MPS, PIU of Benguet PPO, Regional Intelligence Division, and PDEA-CAR.
The said marijuana seedlings were uprooted and burned onsite after proper documentation, while enough samples were taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
Further, Benguet PPO is currently conducting follow-up investigations to discover other marijuana plantation sites and apprehend potential cultivators.#
