CAUAYAN CITY, ISABELA – SM Foundation Inc. launched the KSK Farmer’s Market Day in SM City Cauayan recently. Through the Farmer’s Market Day, Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) graduates are given the opportunity to display and sell their locally-grown crops to SM mall customers.
Focused on sustainable agriculture, the 12-week KSK Farmer’s Training program is geared to improve the quality and quantity of yields of the farmers as well as to provide fresh and organic food for their families.
SM Foundation encourage its farmer graduates to create stable source of income by providing the KSK farmers a market exposure.
“KSK farmers are given with prime location for free in the SM malls to sell their produce through the Farmer’s Market Day, they are also linked to SM suppliers to further develop their entrepreneurial skills”, said Ms. Sheila Marie Estabillo, Mall Manager of SM City Cauayan.
As a joint effort of Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and SM, Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan Program continues to strengthen the interest in farming by helping the farmers become entrepreneurs through pop up booth activities in SM malls.
Mr. Princeton Alejandro, KSK Farmer on the other hand, thank SM for supporting farmers and giving hope in farming. “KSK gave us knowledge to produce more and quality harvest, now we are more confident to sell our crops which helps us in sustaining our family needs.”
To date, a total of 26,776 farmers are trained through Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Training Program nationwide. SM City Cauayan opens the 39th KSK Farmer’s Market Day which shall open every Fridays of 2022 starting July 15. # (SMCA-PR)
