Two human anthrax virus infection cases have been reported in Cagayan as health and veterinary officials have been intensifying their monitoring and control in the affected area in Matalao, Sto. Niño, Cagayan, the provincial health office said on Wednesday (October 16).

The two people affected include a 53-year-old man and his 25-year-old son who were confined at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC). They belong to the five people who butchered and ate a dead carabao. At least 141 people bought the meat and were placed under monitoring.

The infected two men had suffered fever, chilling, weakening of their bodies, and black lesions.

The 25-year-old man had suffered the symptoms on October 8 and later by his father on October 11. #
