Filipina tennis sensation Alexandra Eala won in her WTA 250 debut by dispatching also-ran Paula Ormaechea of Argentina, 7-5, 6-2, in the Round of 32 of the women’s singles event of the Cluj-Napoca Winners Open în Romania on Tuesday evening.
The 16-year-old Eala, 639th in the WTA’s world rankings, subdued the 209th-ranked Argentinian after an hour and 35 minutes in action.
In the Round of 16, Eala will battle Mayar Sherif of Egypt. (Villamor Visaya Jr.)
