CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY – Cagayan Police Provincial Office led by Police Colonel Renell Sabaldica, Provincial Director with the guidance of Police Brigadier General Steve Ludan, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 2 spearheaded a Lingkod Bayanihan BARANGAYanihan outreach activity in Fuga Island, Aparri, Cagayan yesterday.
The activity was organized by the Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit in cooperation with the PRO2 Officers Ladies Club. My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Life Coaches led by Pastor Danny Punay, Regional Coordinator initiated the distribution of 550 food packs, assorted grocery items and medical supplies. The kids of the island barangay were given 400 new pair of slippers through Cagayan PPOs “Patsinelas.”
“The Lingkod Bayanihan BARANGAYanihan is a PNP program in aid of the marginalized and the outskirts of society specially initiated as a response to the pandemic. Truly, the BAYANIHAN spirit lives on in every Filipino,” Police Colonel Sabaldica said in an interview.
BAYANIHAN is derived from the word “BAYANI” which means “obra comun” or group work. It first appeared in 1745 in a manuscript titled “Vocabulario de la Lengua Tagala” by P. Juan Noceda and P. Pedro de Sanlucar. BAYANIHAN, simply put, is the Filipino tradition of coming together to help each other specially during disasters. It is when ordinary citizens become heroes in their own little ways.#
