By virtue of the law on succession, erstwhile Vice Governor Jose “Jing” Gambito was officially sworn into office as the Nueva Vizcaya provincial governor on May 5 afternoon.
The oath-taking came after the death of elected Governor Carlos Padilla who succumbed to a heart attack at about 9:10 in the morning on May 5 in his house in Barangay Quirino in this town.
The 69-year-old Gambito said he was saddened to learn Padilla’s death but he was forced to take over to avoid dereliction of duty due to the vacuum left by the governor.
First-ranked Board Member Eufemia Dacayo, a former Solano mayor, also took oath for the vice gubernatorial post left by Gambito.#
