Recently confiscated/seized illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics by PNP authorities were destroyed in PRO2 today, December 30, 2022.
Regional Civil Security Unit 2 Asst Chief, PLTCOL Romulo M Talay said that an estimated amount of 59, 715 pesos worth of seized and confiscated firecrackers such as picolo, poppop, five star, pla pla, lolo thunder, giant bawang, whistle bomb, super lolo, large Judas belt, bin laden, mother rockets, kwitis and luces were destroyed in front of the PRO2 Grandstand.
The destruction and disposal of the said items were led by PRO2 Regional Director, PBGEN Percival Antolin Rumbaoa, other PRO2 officers and Bureau of Fire Protection personnel.
ARD Rumbaoa said, the series of operations conducted by the PNP is a big help in curbing the number of firecracker-related injuries in Cagayan Valley during the holiday season. He further emphasized that he is hopeful that the region will remain consistent with the “Casualty-Free” celebration of the holiday season with the strict implementation of Republic Act No.7183 that governs fireworks industry through various law enforcement.
“This confiscation of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices is a manifestation that PRO2 is serious in its campaign to implement the Firecrackers Law to attain a zero firecracker-related injuries this holiday season. Bilang ama ng kapulisan dito sa rehiyon, wala akong ibang hangad kundi ang taong 2023 ay maging isang pribelehiyo upang mas pag igihan pa natin ang paggampan sa ating mga tungkulin at gawing gabay at salamin ang ating mga naging karanasan ngayong taon to serve and protect better.” ARD Rumabao added.
Meanwhile, the Regional Director reminded the Valley Cops to avoid indiscriminate firing and use of illegal firecrackers during the celebration of the holiday season.#
