CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Isabela-At least 191 soldiers successfully donated blood on the first day of Dugo Mo, Dugo Ko Alay Sa Pilipino and contributed to the overall 50,000 blood bags target from donors, including Army officers, enlisted personnel, reservists, and ROTC cadets, as well as from civilian agencies and other uniformed services.

This number is enough to say that this is the bloodiest bloodletting this year. Brig. Gen. Santiago Enginco, Assistant Division Commander of the 5ID along with Col Narciso Nabulneg Jr, Chief of Staff of the Star Division together with other officers joined the event.

Some of the stakeholders who joined the activity include Tuguegarao City People’s General Hospital, Philippine Red Cross Cagayan and Isabela Chapters, and Financial Institutions such as AFPSLAI, PAFCPIC, ADCI City Savings and AFPMBAI.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz Station Hospital and the Tuguegarao City People’s General Hospital was also a highlight. The purpose of the agreement is to promote voluntary blood donation to the needy and to ensure an adequate supply in the blood banks.

The Dugo Mo, Dugo Ko Alay Sa Pilipino is a two-day simultaneous bloodletting in commemoration of the 127th Founding Anniversary Philippine Army. It aims to have a 70%-30% distribution for the public and the Philippine Army respectively. This donation drive further seeks to provide sufficient blood reserve in the country.#
