STA. ANA, Cagayan – The daughter of former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile has described herself as a “diligent student who learns the trade swiftly” and a “great listener” as she plunges in the next Cagayan congressional race, triggering a three-cornered fight for the first district seat.

Businesswoman Katrina Ponce Enrile, who is 61 years old, described herself as a young political aspirant when she recently announced her bid at Anguib Beach in Casagan village.

The entrepreneur said she learned a lot from her father since her childhood years, being tagged along in campaigns and meetings “earning her concepts” on the ropes of the political arena. She said she also learned from her brother Jack and sister-in-law Salvacion.

The former senator’s eldest and only daughter runs six companies, including as president-chief executive officer of the Philcomsat Holdings Corp. and Philippine Overseas Telecomm, among others.

She would be battling Rep. Ramon Nolasco Jr. and retired police general Roberto Damian.(Villamor Visaya Jr.)
